About the vacancy

We are looking for a person to operate and maintain Trials Equipment and to assist with other aspects of field trials work. The role would be based at Bicester, but some travelling around the UK would be required.

The person should be practical and have good experience of using and maintaining farm machinery ideally including combines and drills. The machinery is transported on HGV lorries and used around the UK. Ideally, the person should have a Class B HGV license, although training would be provided for the right candidate.

The main tasks would include combining with trial plot combines, plot drilling with specialist trial plot drills as well as the use of more conventional equipment such as fertilizer spreaders, tractor sprayers, cultivation equipment and a range of drills and planters. Another key aspect of the role is plot spraying and over spraying with hand-held equipment. The successful candidate should have a good level of fitness.

Experience of tractor spraying would be an advantage.

Maintenance of the equipment is another key aspect of the role. OAT has a well-equipped workshop facility. Some of the equipment will involve maintenance and calibration of trial plot sprayers and smaller trials equipment.

The successful candidate must be thorough and have a keen eye for detail and accuracy. There are periods through the year such as harvest and drilling time when additional hours are required. The successful candidate must be as flexible as possible in these periods.

The role offers a competitive salary, twenty-five days leave per annum and the opportunity to work with a small, friendly team dedicated to providing a high level of service to our clients.
